Grey highlighted below is reserved for Manual Therapy in office.
Monday 11-3pm Tuesday Off-site Wednesday 12:30-3pm Thursday Off site Friday 12:30-4pm Saturday 12:30-4pm The First Appointment
An assessment that incorporates a thorough health history is the primary goal. Structural and mobility testing, discussion of the findings, treatment plan goals and duration, and the beginning of treatment is what will be discussing within your first appointment.
Please bring comfortable clothing, such as shorts and t-shirt or yoga pants, and bring any assessments reports you may want to share. Depending on your own personal experience with massage, we will progress accordingly.
Subsequent Appointments
Manual, hands-on therapy that may include but not limited to a variety of therapeutic techniques to achieve the goals for each individual plan.
Based on the focus of your care, you and your therapist will develop a treatment plan. This entails the areas to be worked on, the types of techniques, your goals, risks and benefits, self-care, how often your treatments will take place and any possible referrals. You have the right at any time to ask questions, change or stop your treatment plan, and a reassessment is usually done after an agreed upon time to examine the progress of your condition.
Each treatment will be different and depend on how well subsequent treatments are progressing and any changes that may occur.
The Goals of Treatment
Depending on your individual presentation and requirements, the goals of treatment may vary. During a treatment you remove as much clothing as you feel comfortable with, usually underpants remain on. You then lie on a massage table, in between sheets, on your back, side or stomach which is described to you by the therapist prior to them leaving the room. During session, pillows are placed appropriately to reduce stress on low back and limbs. Only the area being treated will be undraped. Oil, gel or lotion specific to massage is used.
A variety of techniques can be used to stretch and loosen muscles, connective tissue, and move the joints, thereby reducing tension and increasing the range of motion. These techniques include effleurage (gliding strokes), petrissage (kneading), frictions (rubbing), vibrations (light rapid shaking), and tapotement (rhythmic tapping). Some other techniques and modalities that may be included are hydrotherapy (applications of hot or cold-water in various forms), lymphatic drainage, trigger point therapy, myofascial therapy (connective tissue), and peripheral joint mobilization, (passive movements of the joints), (PIR) Post-isometric Relaxation, (MET) Muscle Energy Techniques, Mobilization and manipulation of the fascia using bio kinematic chains and remedial exercise. As a Thai Massage therapist other types of stretches and positional release are offered using these skills. With cupping, cups are placed on your skin for a few minutes to create a negative suction. People generally get this treatment for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being.
Treatments last between 50 to 80 minutes, depending on what you and your therapist have agreed to in advance.
At the end of your treatment, your therapist will give you self-care tips and if needed, remedial exercise techniques to help stretch or strengthen the muscles worked on. It is important to adhere to them, as it will help prolong the positive effects of treatment.
